What inspired you to take on your Inspired Adventure with Plan?

For me it was talking with Kerry, she did last year’s Trek in Nepal and raised funds for Because I am a Girl. By comparison our childhood has been one of privilege, we received a good education and have been able to make our own choices with the support of our families. The girls we are fundraising for do not have the same luxury or choices as we did and we wanted to help change this.

Had either of you ever been to Cambodia before?

No we haven’t been!

What had been some of the highlights of your fundraising and adventure experience?

The highlights from our fundraising would have to be the support from our local community, the generous donations given for our raffle were, at times, overwhelming. The highlights from our Cambodian adventure would be firstly to meet a team of wonderful people with such generosity of spirit, so caring and giving. Then to visit the projects and to see how our support is making a change to the lives of the children and young adults involved.  The Kingdom of Cambodia is an amazing place, the people have a difficult life but still manage to smile and made us feel so welcome as we cycled through the villages. On our last day we met a young lady who was herself a sponsored child, she is now a tour guide with the Ministry of Tourism and is sponsoring 3 children, it put everything into perspective.

"Just do it, it will change your life."

What have been your biggest challenges in taking on an Inspired Adventure? How did you overcome this?

With both Kerry & I working full time and fundraising it was hard to find time to do consistent training. We made a consious effort to spend Sunday’s on our bikes and would get in a 45-50kms ride.

Have you noticed any changes or transformation in your life since taking on your adventure?

It has given us a greater appreciation for the lives we have here.

What advice would you offer to other people looking to complete a challenge like this?

Just do it, it will change your life.
