What inspired you to take on your Inspired Adventure with Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ?
My husband was diagnosed with Myeloma in April 2016. He was keen to do some fund raising for blood cancer himself but was too sick. When I saw the posting on facebook I decided to do it for my husband and also because I have always wanted to go to China and walk along the Great Wall.
How are you feeling about the challenge ahead? Have you ever been to China
before?
I feel confident about the challenge. I just hope my knees can take it. No I have never been to China before, the closest I got was Hong Kong when it was still under British rule.
What have been some of the highlights of your fundraising experience so far?
Probably the kindest of people that I least expected it from. For example my doctor gave a large donation and a work connection is going to organise a ladies lunch with all funds going to my fundraising page.

What have been your biggest challenges in taking on an Inspired Adventure? How did you overcome this?
Probably stepping outside my comfort zone. I’ve been brought up where, if I wanted something then I had to earn it. I’ve never asked for money before. I’m still trying to overcome this, but I’ve been sending letters and emails to people asking for donations. After all, what’s the worst they can do, say no or ignore me?
Have you noticed any changes or transformation in your life since taking on your first adventure?
Yes, I’ve been humbled by the people who have donated and their kindness, I’m very gracious.
What advice would you offer to other people looking to complete a challenge like this?
Feel the fear and do it anyway. The challenge will make me stronger in so many ways and I have also done something good along the way by fundraising for Leukaemia blood cancer NZ.
