Bravehearts is Australia’s leading child protection organisation working holistically to prevent child sexual assault and exploitation.

Hetty Johnston AM founded Bravehearts in 1997, following her young daughter’s disclosure of sexual assault. Finding there was nowhere to turn to for help, she established the organisation to provide advice and support to those affected by child sexual assault. The same year, Bravehearts launched Australia’s first White Balloon Day, which has facilitated a staggering increase in disclosure of child sexual assault over the past 20 years.

Bravehearts is guided by a vision to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child. Through industry-leading training and education programs, specialist counselling and support services, and tireless research and lobbying, they aim to educate, empower and protect children against sexual assault and exploitation.
