Dharamsala (also spelled Dharamshala) is tucked in the north of India, perched in the lap of the Himalayas. Together with neighbouring and tourist-friendly McLeod Ganj, it serves as a gateway to some of the best trekking in Asia. It is also home to the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan government in exile.

India is a country known worldwide for its diverse cultural heritage, vibrant colours and stunning architecture. The noise, the heat, the friendly smiles and the enduring beauty of India will not only ignite your senses, it might just leave you breathless.

Landing in Delhi, you are immediately exposed to the exotic chaos and confusion of India’s capital. Experience the history of a city founded by Mughal emperors. Marvel at traditional Hindu architecture and lose yourself in a maze of jumbled streets lined with silk, saris and spices.

Boarding an overnight train, you will travel to Dharamsala, the cultural centre of Tibet in India and the home-in-exile of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Embarking on the adventure-of-a-lifetime, over five days you will trek across lush alpine meadows, through rhododendron and pine forest and into traditional villages set in the shadow of snow-capped peaks. As you descend into verdant valleys, you will pass Gaddi shepherds guiding their herds, wave at children who run out to greet you and meet local women working on traditional handicrafts.
