Join the AMRF Larapinta Challenge in 2021 and help fund life-saving melanoma research.

On this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, you’ll trek through the Australian outback on one of the most spectacular walking tracks in the world—the Larapinta Trail.

From the old Alice Springs Telegraph Station to the peak of Mount Sonder, the trail stretches 223 kilometres along the backbone of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Over 5 days, you will journey along the most spectacular and rewarding sections of the trail, trekking over 60 kilometres. You will follow Aboriginal Dreaming tracks and explore the beautiful mountains, valleys, rivers and the dramatic desert landscapes of the Red Centre.

By day, you’ll trek through the ochre-landscapes of the outback, witnessing the sacred sites of the Arrernte people and by night you’ll camp under the stars, falling asleep to the sounds of native wildlife. Best of all, you’ll raise vital funds for melanoma research.

Why not consider sharing this adventure with a friend, family member or work colleague, it will certainly be a trip to remember!

The funds you raise on this adventure will go towards the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation’s research, awareness and early detection programs. In Australia, rates of melanoma are scarily high, with 1 person dying from melanoma every 5 hours.

Your fundraising efforts will support research into melanoma, which will help to reduce the incidence of this cancer and its impact on those living with it. The AMRF needs people like you to help fund research in Australia which will occur in purpose built, well equipped laboratories under professional supervision by leaders in their field. The right people with the right equipment can make a difference to our knowledge of melanoma and potentially save lives.

Every cent that you raise will be helping us understand melanoma better, so that we can offer better prevention and treatment in the future. To put it into perspective, the money you raise for this charity may be spent on:

• $3,000 will buy one laboratory assay used to identify specific proteins in human tissue samples

• $10,000 will fund a melanoma research graduate for about 4 months at an Australian university

• $25,000 will fund a melanoma research assistant working in an Australian research laboratory for about 4 months.
