On this incredible 8-day adventure, you will journey through Gunung Leuser National Park, the last sanctuary of the Sumatran orangutan. You will trek for 4 days through dense, enveloping jungle on the lookout for reclusive orangutans, gibbons, hornbills and other incredible animals.
As you make your way deeper into the jungle, the songs of native birds will grow louder and you will begin to feel as much a part of this unique ecosystem as the tall trees and native wildlife around you. With the support of local guides, you will learn all about life in the jungle, from the medicinal qualities of plants to gathering food.
Nothing short of amazing, you will also have the opportunity to witness a cooking demonstration in Timbang Lawan village. Using local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, you will learn the secrets to Sumatran cuisine and create a sumptuous feast.
Best of all, you will be raising vital funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia to help create a better journey for Australians affected by breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women. In fact, on any one day, 53 Australian women will hear the words “You have breast cancer”.
Breast Cancer Network Australia is the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer. We work to ensure that they receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.
More than 90 per cent of our members have had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the remaining members have had a personal experience with breast cancer through a family member or friend.
By fundraising for Breast Cancer Network Australia, you are changing lives. The resources and support we can provide as a result of the fundraising through BCNA’s Jungle Trek 2019 can really change someone’s breast cancer journey. By raising the $4,000 required for this trip, you will enable 17 people affected by breast cancer to attend BCNA’s information forums free-of-charge and have their questions answered.
