Join Childhood Dementia Initiative as they conquer some of the highest peaks in Australia and help shine a light on childhood dementia.

Come with us and take on the challenge of trekking some of the most remarkable parts of Australia’s Snowy Mountain range to raise funds and urgent awareness for childhood dementia.

This is an adventure like no other! Not only will you trek to the summit of Mt. Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest mountain, but also its sister peak Mt. Etheridge and the nearby Rams Head North. As you put your mind and body to the test, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views of colossal mountainscapes, majestic alpine woodlands and the breathtaking expanse of endless open sky. See historic huts nestled in the mountainside and the crystal clear waters of Lake Cootapatamba, one of only six glacial lakes in Australia.

And the best part? As you conquer some of Australia’s highest peaks, you’ll be helping inspire action and accelerate solutions for children suffering with dementia.

Childhood dementia – yes it exists. Though dementia is often only associated with the eldery, the harsh reality is that hundreds of thousands of children are also suffering from this condition. These children stop recognising those who love them most, they forget how to talk and walk. Childhood dementia kills more children than cancer and in Australia, 92 children lose their lives every year.

By joining this adventure, you’ll be raising funds to support Childhood Dementia Initiative’s mission to urgently disrupt the impact of childhood dementia. The funds you raise will enable them to continue raising awareness of the devastating impact dementia has on thousands of families around the world. They are leading the call for childhood dementia to be at the forefront of the agenda of health professionals, policy makers and the general public. Without this widespread awareness and help from supporters like you, childhood dementia will continue to take the lives of more children.

How challenging is this adventure?

This adventure is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, our adventures are designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train. The NSW 3 Peaks Challenge is a physical challenge, involving trekking approximately 18 kilometres over hilly terrain in one day. The fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the experience. You will be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You are free to move at your own pace and we will take frequent breaks.

How do I fundraise?

Never fundraised before? Not sure where to start? No worries, we don’t expect you to do it alone. You will have regular support from the Inspired Adventures fundraising team, who will help you make a fundraising plan to meet your target. Alongside personalised coaching, we will also send you lots of ideas and resources on how to fundraise. From online fundraising to trivia nights, to bake sales and out-of-the-box ideas, we have years and years of tried and tested tips to make your fundraising a success.

Who will I be travelling with?

We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures usually have 10 – 20 people aged from 18 to 90+ (younger ages considered on request). You can be sure that you have all come together with the shared purpose of making a difference to others and having the adventure of a lifetime.

The group will be led by a local tour guide with expert knowledge of the region. Many groups will also be accompanied by an Inspired Adventures team leader or doctor to support and motivate the team.

Where applicable, a charity representative may also join the team. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your chosen charity and their work.

We understand the dilemma of making travel plans when the world feels unpredictable right now. You can still register for an Inspired Adventure in complete confidence, because we promise to look after you should COVID-19 travel bans affect your plans.

If COVID-19 travel bans mean your Inspired Adventure cannot go ahead as scheduled, we will endeavour to reschedule the departure to a later date to allow you still to travel as planned.
