The Tassie Trek for Climate Action is an extraordinary adventure in Tasmania with Climate Councillor Professor Lesley Hughes that will raise funds to push for climate action

The Tarkine Adventure is your chance to take action against the worsening climate crisis.

Join fellow Climate Council supporters and Climate Councillor Professor Lesley Hughes in Tasmania to push for action on climate change by raising funds for Climate Council’s extreme weather work and the newly-formed Emergency Leaders for Climate Action (ELCA).

For five days you’ll trek through the Tarkine, a breathtaking forest reserve containing Australia’s largest temperate rainforest and some of the most spectacular landscapes on the planet.

Together, you will help Climate Council reach new networks, raise vital funds and share about the impacts of and solutions for climate change all while exploring this spectacular wilderness.

By joining the Tassie Trek for Climate Action, you’ll be part of the community that powers Climate Council’s critical work. They couldn’t produce science-backed reports, get climate change into the news, fight misinformation with facts or push for urgent action in government without your help.

The funds raised from this challenge will be directed to Climate Council’s extreme weather work and the activities of the Emergency Leaders for Climate Action (ELCA).

The ELCA is 23 former Fire and Emergency Chiefs from every state and territory around Australia who have banded together to call for stronger action on climate change. The highly decorated and experienced group launched in April 2019 to extensive media coverage and is already having an influence across the media.

With further funding, ELCA could continue their critical work raising the profile of climate change in the media, hold a summit with firefighters and leaders, undertake further research and protect Australians from the worsening impacts of extreme weather.

  • $50 could fund a rapid fire media release to respond to misinformation from politicians in the media and fight back with the facts
  • $500 could fund a climate conversation guide to empower people in the community to raise awareness of the crisis
  • $10,000 could fund a major project working with regional communities to transition to climate solutions, such as renewable energy
  • $70,000 could power the Emergency Leaders for Climate Action for one year so they can work with our emergency services to protect Australians from worsening impacts of extreme weather
