Climb for Guide Dogs and help change lives. Registration fees are only $199 all through June!

The Climb for Guide Dogs is your chance to do something life-changing – for yourself and people waiting on the independence, safety and companionship a Guide Dog brings. Standing at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, in the African savanna, you’ll look up and know this challenge is something truly special. But from big challenges come big rewards.

Rising impressively from the rainforests of the East African plains, the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro is an awe-inspiring sight. To stand at its summit is to quite literally stand on top of the world.

On this nine-day adventure, you will be pushed both physically and mentally as you trek through five different climatic zones under the care of experienced local guides. From farmlands to verdant rainforest, through alpine meadow and across the barren lunar-like landscape you’ll climb to the summit and witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the East African plains below.

Just imagine the sense of accomplishment you’ll have in that moment.

While Kilimanjaro is a challenge of endurance, there’s no technical climbing at all. We’ve taken men and women from 18 to 70 to its summit, many of them first time trekkers. We think it’s knowing the difference you’ve made and the team around you that pushes you up those last few hundred meters.

The Climb for Guide Dogs 2021 aims to raise $100,000 to give two Queenslanders waiting for a Guide Dog the chance to experience the freedom, companionship and independence so many others have found through their Guide Dog.

Being matched with a Guide Dog gives someone with low or no vision the chance to walk freely and feel confident and safe as they move through the world. It means the small things in life that we sometimes take for granted, are now more achievable. This might be visiting the shops or travelling independently to work, taking the kids down to the park for a play, or even just moving through busy areas and crossing roads with confidence.

Ebony, who was recently matched with her Guide Dog said, “With my Guide Dog ‘Hollie’ I feel more confident and I feel free. I feel independent and it just feels like there are so many more possibilities in my life now.”

Every dollar you raise goes towards training Guide Dogs like ‘Hollie’, so that more Queenslanders who are blind or vision impaired can have the chance to be matched with a life-changing companion.

Did you know it costs over $50,000 to breed, raise and train each Guide Dog in Australia? That’s a lot of dog bikkies. Over 90% of this funding comes directly from the generosity of the community, so it is the support of people like you that makes it possible for Guide Dogs to continue to provide its life-changing services.

With your help, promising puppies can become life-changing Guide Dogs.
