Rising impressively from the rainforests of the East African plains, the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro is an awe-inspiring sight. To stand at its summit is to quite literally stand on top of the world.

On this 9-day adventure, you will be pushed both physically and mentally as you trek through five different climatic zones under the care of experienced local guides.

Trekking from farmlands to verdant rainforest, through alpine meadow and across the barren lunar-like landscape to the summit, you’ll view the stunning sight of the sun rising over the East African plains below.

Trekking alongside iCMLf directors and passionate supporters just like you, you’ll have the opportunity to form new friendships that will last a lifetime through this incredible shared experience.

Best of all, with every kilometre you cover you will be help iCMLf improve the outcomes for people with CML globally.

Inspired Adventures is proud to work with IMEC and KPAP certified Kilimanjaro operators. Through its Porter Assistance Project, IMEC is focusing its efforts on improving the working conditions for porters on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal.

About the iCMLf

The iCMLf is a charitable foundation started in 2009 by a group of haematologists with a strong interest in the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and a hunger and determination to find a cure.

Every single area into which we direct funding improves outcomes for people with CML around the world. We aim to foster and coordinate global clinical and research collaborations, and improve clinical practice and disease monitoring in CML.

All of the money raised on this challenging adventure will help the iCMLf get closer to a cure. The big unknown is how much money, how much time, how much inspiration it will take to get to a cure. Some examples of what this funding will go towards:

• $20,000 will provide a PCR machine for CML diagnosis and monitoring to expand the number of patients who can receive best-available therapy

• $100,000 will support a mutation screening project to further our understanding of drug resistance

• $400,000 will support a project to optimise our approach to treatment free remission

• $1,000,000 will fund a multicenter genomic alliance to accelerate the development of more effective and safer treatment strategies
