On arrival in Madrid, Spain’s bustling capital city, you will set off on a guided tour, exploring the city’s highlights from past to present. You will then travel beyond city limits to embark on the Camino de Santiago.
Beginning in Madrid, you will transfer to Leon, the capital of the kingdom in the Middle Ages, with the glorious mountains in the distance. From Leon to Sarria, you will trek under broom, heather and oak trees, past historic enclaves, cathedrals, and Gaudi’s most impressive architecture under the backdrop of the rolling countryside. At night, you will experience Spain’s colourful culture and cuisine.

By fundraising for Mater Foundation’s Steps for Stroke: El Camino 2018 you’ll assist Professor Mike O’Sullivan and his team at Mater to carry on a project which, if successful, could have a life-changing impact on thousands of Australians. This type of research aims to help a person’s recovery after a stroke for a better quality of life.
This type of research aims to help recovery of problems with memory, concentration and motivation after stroke, which would therefore lead to a better quality of life after this traumatic incident. Over 40% of stroke survivors suffer enduring problems with memory and concentration and problems with mood and motivation caused by stroke which hinder rehabilitation. To date little research has focussed on these topics.
