Hike for Health 2019

The Hike for Health brings together supporters from various New Zealand and Australian health and medical research organisations, including Motor Neurone Disease NSW, for an adventure trek to the Great Wall of China. You’ll be part of an incredible team, raising awareness and funds for a health organisation close to your heart. You’ll stand united, as a team, atop the Great Wall, knowing the difference you’ve made.

On the Hike for Health, you’ll travel through history to the very heart of China’s ancient culture.

Starting in Beijing, you’ll quickly swap the hustle and bustle of the city for the majesty of the Great Wall. You will challenge yourself like never before as you trek on remote and unrestored paths, between mountains, through local villages and across rolling farmlands. With the support of our expert guides, you’ll explore the many facets of the Great Wall, deciphering the ancient stories and poems etched into its watchtowers, every brick seeming to tell a story of war and adventure.

Immerse yourself in the ancient history of this World Wonder, explore Beijing’s Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, and experience the poignancy of Tiananmen Square.

Best of all, you will be raising funds to assist some incredible health and medical research charities as we work towards better health for all Kiwis and Australians.

People who have been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) face a multitude of losses during the progression of this incurable fatal disease. Loss of the ability to move independently or to communicate to people can be minimised with the use of specialised pieces of equipment. Equipment loaned to individual members of MND NSW and its use would not only improve the quality of life for people with MND, it would also improve their carers’ quality of life.

Every dollar raised through the Hike for Health China 2019 will help:

• Provide equipment to all people with MND within NSW and the ACT
• Fund research
• Provide education and resources to families affected by MND

Without community fundraising, MND NSW would not be able to provide the support and equipment needed for families affected by motor neurone disease. These services are provided at no cost to the person with MND or their family.
