Join Pancare’s Great Wall Trek 2019 and you’ll trek the Great Wall of China in an effort to raise funds to improve survival for pancreatic cancer.

Based on current statistics, pancreatic cancer will become the second leading cause of cancer death in our community. Together, we can take on the challenge of scaling the Great Wall and raising much-needed funds for Pancare to conduct research into early detection, improving treatments and providing support to patients and their families.

Winding its way across the north of China, from the Yellow Sea to the Gobi Desert, the Great Wall of China is one of mankind’s most impressive accomplishments. As part of this challenge, you’ll travel through history to the very heart of China’s ancient culture.

Over five days, you will challenge yourself like never before as you trek on remote and unrestored paths, between mountains, through local villages and across rolling farmlands. With the support of our expert guides, you’ll explore the many facets of the Great Wall, deciphering the ancient stories and poems etched into its watchtowers, every brick seeming to tell a story of war and adventure.

Swapping the majesty of the Great Wall for the hustle and bustle of a great city, you’ll explore the contrasting personality of Beijing. Immerse yourself in the ancient history of the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, and experience the poignancy of Tiananmen Square.

The survival rate for people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer must change. Be part of the fight against pancreatic cancer as together we can make a long-lasting difference.

The funds you raise on this challenge will allow us to significantly increase our investment in research, doubling our efforts to develop early detection tools and better treatments options for patients. Increased funding for patient services will help improve the lives of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer today, as well as those who are diagnosed in the future.

• $25 funds our Patient & Dietary Handbooks to patients and healthcare professionals
• $50 funds the provision of our telephone support groups for patients and carers facilitated by trained pancreatic nurses
• $100 supports the development of a Survivors and Carers network across Australia
• $230 provides direct access and support to specially trained nurses.
• $500 helps us provide financial assistance for patients and families to help with travel and accommodation for medical treatment, access complementary therapies or meet other days to day expenses
• $1,000 allows us to invest more into research for early detection and new treatments to increase survival
