This is an opportunity to join like-minded people, united by the desire to raise money for medical research and healthcare and to trek the Great Wall together. On this adventure, you will help raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ and support their mission to eliminate death and suffering from prostate cancer.
The Hike for Health brings together supporters from various New Zealand and Australian health and medical research organisations, including Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ, for an adventure trek to the Great Wall of China. You’ll be part of an incredible team, raising awareness and funds for a health organisation close to your heart. You’ll stand united, as a team, atop the Great Wall, knowing the difference you’ve made.
On the Hike for Health, you’ll travel through history to the very heart of China’s ancient culture.
Starting in Beijing, you’ll quickly swap the hustle and bustle of the city for the majesty of the Great Wall. You will challenge yourself like never before as you trek on remote and unrestored paths, between mountains, through local villages and across rolling farmlands. With the support of our expert guides, you’ll explore the many facets of the Great Wall, deciphering the ancient stories and poems etched into its watchtowers, every brick seeming to tell a story of war and adventure.
Immerse yourself in the ancient history of this World Wonder, explore Beijing’s Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, and experience the poignancy of Tiananmen Square.
Best of all, you will be raising funds to assist some incredible health and medical research charities as we work towards better health for all Kiwis and Australians.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ’s vision is to ‘eliminate death and suffering from prostate cancer’ through offering peer support to men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their family; actively promoting awareness of prostate cancer through community promotions; funding research, and advocating for patients.
Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men in New Zealand. Over 3000 kiwi men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and over 600 men will die of the disease each year.
In the early stages of prostate cancer, there are usually no symptoms, so it is vital for men to visit their GP at least once a year.
By taking part in this incredible adventure, you will help assist Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ in their mission to eliminate death and suffering from prostate cancer through awareness, support, advocacy and New Zealand based research projects to find better diagnosis and treatment options for prostate cancer.
