An unforgettable experience surrounded by silence, peace and beauty.”

Helga Burry, Kangaroo Island 2018

As part of this iconic Australian adventure, over five days, you’ll discover the unique natural beauty of South Australia’s Kangaroo Island with RSPCA and a team of compassionate, like-minded people committed to improving the outcomes for South Australian animals.

You’ll trek from Hansons Bay to the limestone formations of Kelly Hill Caves, along the Rocky River Trail and through Deep Creek National Park. You’ll witness one of Australia’s largest colonies of sea lions up close and learn more about our native fauna and its habitat on guided tours.

Best of all, with every step you take, you’ll raise vital funds to support RSPCA SA’s purpose-built, state-of-the-art Animal Care Campus.

Kangaroo Island is a unique coastal ecosystem still recovering from the devastating 2019–20 bushfires, the largest recorded in the island’s history.

As fires burned through 200,000 hectares of land – almost half the island – countless native animals and birds perished.

As part of this incredible adventure, you’ll raise vital funds to support our Animal Care Campus, which will house the state’s first and only purpose-built 24/7 wildlife hospital – a key outcome of the state’s bushfire taskforce.

South Australian wildlife and the people committed to protecting it deserve free and accessible veterinary support. And you can make it happen.

Your fundraising and physical efforts will help RSPCA begin a new era of animal care in South Australia – for all creatures, great and small.

How challenging is this adventure?

This adventure is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, our adventures are specifically designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train. The Kangaroo Island Trek is a physical challenge, involving trekking approximately 38 kilometres over four days. The fitter you are, the more you’ll enjoy the experience.

You’ll be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You’re free to move at your own pace and we’ll take frequent breaks.

How do I fundraise?

Never fundraised before? Not sure where to start? No worries, we don’t expect you to do it alone. You’ll have regular support from the Inspired Adventures fundraising team, who will help you make a fundraising plan to meet your target. Alongside personalised coaching, we’ll also send you lots of ideas and resources on how to fundraise.

Who will I be travelling with?

We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures include 14-20 participants, connected by their commitment to the greater good.

The group will be led by a local tour guide with expert knowledge of the region, in addition to RSPCA South Australia charity representatives. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your chosen charity and their work.

Do I need to have travel insurance?

Travel insurance is highly recommended for domestic adventures, to cover cancellation, hospital, emergency evacuation and lost luggage. We advise that you purchase your policy as soon as possible. It’s up to you to ensure you have fully comprehensive travel insurance and you’ll need to share these details with our team before departure. For more information, please visit www.inspiredadventures.com.au/travel-insurance-information.

We understand the dilemma of making travel plans when the world feels unpredictable right now. You can still register for an Inspired Adventure in complete confidence, because we promise to look after you should COVID-19 travel bans affect your plans.

If COVID-19 travel bans mean your Inspired Adventure cannot go ahead as scheduled, we will endeavour to reschedule the departure to a later date to allow you still to travel as planned.

Inspired Adventures requires that all travellers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as described in government guidelines and ground operator requirements.

For more information please refer to the COVID-19 hub on our website.
