This trip was more than my own personal challenge. It ended up being a great chance to bond with others and share a great experience.

Michelle, R U OK? Larapinta Trek 2019

Eight people take their own lives in Australia every day, and 89 per cent of us report knowing someone who’s made a suicide attempt. By raising funds during Conquer Kozi at Sunrise, you’ll help R U OK? on its mission to inspire and empower people to connect with those in their world and lend support when others are struggling with life.

Step up to this incredible challenge and raise $1,500 for R U OK?, so it can continue its important work to keep us all communicating in a compassionate way.

Starting with a moonlight hike to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak at 2,228 metres, you’ll get to see the dawn break over the Snowy Mountains. Then it’s time to head back down, but now the sun’s up so you’ll get to enjoy the epic landscape – glacial lakes, mountain ranges, wildflower meadows – in the golden light of dawn.

Are you ready to take on our highest peak and help people have conversations that can help others through difficult times? This is an adventure you’ll never forget and a chance to give back to your community.

Please note this trek is not for the novice or the faint hearted. You must be prepared to get up at 2am and hike over 20km. You can be assured the reward will be well worth the effort as you join an exclusive group of people who have watched the sunrise from the highest point in Australia.

With every metre you go up Kozi – and there are 2,228 in all – you’ll be raising vital funds for the important work of R U OK? Its mission is to get people to stay connected and have important conversations, and to facilitate that we need to give people the ability to know what to do when they ask the question and someone says no.

It does this in a number of ways:, by providing physical and digital resources – some of them tailored for different groups in the community; hosting events in support of mental health and suicide prevention; and operating an ambassador program.

Eight people take their own lives in Australia every day, and 89 per cent of us report knowing someone who’s made a suicide attempt. R U OK? is inspiring and empowering people to connect with those in their world and lend support when others are struggling with life.

Connection. Conversation. Conquering Kozi.

How challenging is this adventure?

This adventure is ranked 4/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering you will need to be fit to get the most out of tis experience. Our adventures are specifically designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train and the moonlight summit trek will test you. It is a physical and mental challenge, and the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the experience. You must be prepared to trek in the dark and cover over 20km.

You will be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You are free to move at your own pace and we will take frequent breaks.

How do I fundraise?

Never fundraised before? Not sure where to start? No worries, we don’t expect you to do it alone. You will have regular support from the Inspired Adventures fundraising team, who will help you make a fundraising plan to meet your target. Alongside personalised coaching, we will also send you lots of ideas and resources on how to fundraise. From online fundraising to trivia nights, to bake sales and out-of-the-box ideas, we have years and years of tried and tested tips to make your fundraising a success.

Who will I be travelling with?

We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures usually have 10 – 20 people aged from 18 to 90+ (younger ages considered on request). You can be sure that you have all come together with the shared purpose of making a difference to others and having the adventure of a lifetime.

The group will be led by a local tour guide with expert knowledge of the region. Many groups will also be accompanied by an Inspired Adventures team leader or doctor to support and motivate the team.

Where applicable, a charity representative may also join the team. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your chosen charity and their work.

We understand the dilemma of making travel plans when the world feels unpredictable right now. You can still register for an Inspired Adventure in complete confidence, because we promise to look after you should COVID-19 travel bans affect your plans.

If COVID-19 travel bans mean your Inspired Adventure cannot go ahead as scheduled, we will endeavour to reschedule the departure to a later date to allow you still to travel as planned.
