This Challenge is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to accompany the Starlight Children’s Foundation on an incredible Australian Outback adventure.

The Larapinta Trail is regarded as one of Australia’s premier walking tracks. From the old Alice Springs Telegraph Station to the peak of Mount Sonder, the trail stretches 223 kilometers along the backbone of the West MacDonnell Ranges.

As part of this incredible adventure, you will journey along the most spectacular and rewarding sections of the trail, trekking over 60 kilometres. You will follow Aboriginal Dreaming tracks and explore the beautiful mountains, valleys, rivers and the dramatic desert landscapes of the Red Centre.

By day, you will visit sites sacred to the Arrernte people and trek beside one of the world’s oldest river systems. As nightfall descends, you will fall asleep to the sounds of native wildlife under a blanket of stars.

What makes this experience even more spectacular is knowing that you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Healthier Futures Initiative, supporting the health and well-being of kids in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.

“Starlight would like you to join us on this incredible challenge to raise much needed funds to further expand our Healthier Futures Initiative.” – Louise Baxter, Starlight CEO

The funds raised on Starlight’s Larapinta Challenge will support Starlight’s Healthier Futures Initiative. Through this initiative, Captain Starlight travels to regional and remote areas across the Northern Territory and Western Australia, visiting almost 600 children every month.

  • $2,500 helps fly Captain Starlight to a remote health clinic
  • $250 will pack a suitcase of fun for Captain Starlight to take to kids in remote communities
  • $30 will deliver an arts & craft pack to a child in a remote community

Captain Starlight builds trust and sparks lasting relationships between health professionals, kids and the community, easing stress and pressure on healthcare clinics. By engaging with kids through song, dance and storytelling, Starlight has helped to boost health clinic attendance. Captain Starlight’s own brand of fun has increased community confidence in the healthcare system.
