Join The Kids’ Cancer Project Founder Col Reynolds on a historic pilgrimage along the Kokoda Track and raise vital funds to improve outcomes for kids with cancer.
Kokoda for Kids 2021 is your chance to retrace the footsteps of Australian history and make a difference to the lives of kids living with cancer.
One of the world’s greatest treks, the Kokoda Track links the south and north coast of Papua New Guinea across 96 kilometres of rugged mountain terrain, jungle trails and remote villages.
As part of this incredible adventure, you will trek the trail alongside Col and a team of passionate supporters. You’ll challenge yourself like never before as you trek through dense jungle, experiencing the camaraderie of your teammates as you take on the tough terrain together—knowing every step you take will make a difference to the lives of children with cancer.
At night you will stay in secluded camps, sharing stories with local Koiari and Orokaiva people, listening to the nocturnal sounds of the jungle. You have the option to complete the 9-day trek (one way) or the 18-day trek (return).
Best of all, you will raise vital funds to improve treatments for the 950 Australian children diagnosed with cancer every year through The Kids’ Cancer Project who has a vision for 100% survival.
When you join us on Kokoda for Kids 2021, you’ll help The Kids’ Cancer Project raise funds to support the boldest cancer research initiatives in Australia.
We hope to raise more than $300,000 to fund scientific research that has the greatest chance of clinical success in the improvement of childhood cancers. Our goal is that every child with a cancer diagnosis has a 100% chance of survival and receives the best treatment possible. In June 2020, The Kids’ Cancer Project Research Advisory Committee (RAC) will review grant submissions and determine which study will be selected to receive funding.
As a participant on Kokoda for Kids 2021, you will be first to know which research initiative your funds will go towards, and you’ll be updated throughout the following months as we learn about the impact the study is making.
