Scale Cradle Mountain with WAAC to help fight against stigma associated with HIV and AIDS

Are you ready to explore the stunning Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area? Take on this incredible challenge for the WA AIDS Council (WAAC) and that’s exactly what you’ll do as you scale Cradle Mountain to help fight stigma against HIV and AIDS.

Tasmania is one of Australia’s premier trekking destinations. With rocky mountain peaks, buttongrass moorlands, glacial lakes, waterfalls and dense rainforest, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the wonderful scenery you’ll encounter on this trip.

On this adventure, you’ll spend five-days trekking a variety of trails around the Cradle Mountain Village area. From easy shorter exploration walks to day-long hikes and steep climbs up to beautiful lookouts, everyday you’ll face a different challenge. You’ll discover the Tasmanian wilderness up close on this unforgettable adventure.

The best bit? The funds you raise on this adventure will help our response to the devastating impacts of stigma on people living with HIV and all individuals and communities facing injustice and discrimination.

Stunning Tasmanian rainforest, incredible mountain views and breathtaking lakes. What more could you want from a hiking adventure?

WAAC stands for inclusion without exclusion – welcoming and supporting everyone in order to create more understanding communities.

No one should fear accessing health support, yet sadly many people with HIV and AIDS feel that there are too many social, legal and policy barriers that prevent them from getting help. Whether that’s in the form of information, health support or prevention measures, sadly many people with HIV feel extradited from society with no one to lean on.

This is where WAAC comes in. They help to optimise the sexual health and wellbeing of the community they serve through reducing the impact of stigma and discrimination, improving access to health services and information and reducing transmission of HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Blood-borne Viruses.

Your funds will help to minimise the impact and further transmission of HIV, sexually transmissible infection and other blood borne viruses.
