The snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro rising above the plains of East Africa is one of the most evocative sights in the world. Now imagine standing up there, breathing the air, taking in the panoramic views and feeling the immense sense of achievement at scaling the highest mountain in Africa.
What makes this experience even more spectacular is knowing you’re there because you’ve raised funds to help White Ribbon continue its vital work to end men’s violence against women.
On this 9 day adventure, you will be pushed to your limits as you climb through five different climatic zones with the support of experienced guides. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a life-changing experience, one you’ll never forget.
Trekking from cultivated farmlands to lush rainforest, through alpine meadow and across the barren lunar-like landscape to the summit, you’ll witness the incredible sight of the sun rising over the East African plains below.
As an organisation which receives less than 10% funding from the government, White Ribbon Australia’s existence relies on financial support from generous individuals and organisations. All funds raised through our Trek for Respect support our best practice primary prevention programs, community engagement initiatives and research to help end violence against women.
$42 enables someone to take our online e-learning course. With the course segments continually reviewed and researched, we are able to keep this resource relevant and free to the public.
$280 helps us translate our factsheets into different languages, creating accessible, relevant resources for culturally diverse groups so that language is not a barrier to access important information and support.
$1,550 helps us design, print and distribute resources to support the community to start these challenging conversations.
$2,700 will enable a community forum to raise awareness and start conversations within diverse communities. With indigenous women and girl’s 35x more likely to experience domestic violence, it is important to support different communities to discuss this complex issue in a culturally relevant manner.
$8,950 enables an innovation incubator – a workshop to help kick start the development of new primary prevention models. This may include identifying target audiences such as universities, sporting clubs and young adults for specific initiatives to engage.
$12,300 will support us to empower role models in the community as Ambassadors, Advocates and supporters, providing the tools and resources they need to lead the conversation in their communities. Utilising our networks we link people and resources to support services, community groups and stakeholders to embed our programs and initiatives, enhancing the whole of community approach to drive social change.
To end violence against women, we must develop new creative and compelling campaigns, activities and programs to reach and empower every Australian. A donation of $36,000 would support the creation of an engaging campaign to reach more Australians with our message.
